Lavender Essential Oil: A Tried and True Go To

Lavender Essential Oil has been used for over 2500 years starting with Egyptians who used it primarily for perfume. First used by the Quakers in the USA it is now made all over the world. Lavender Essential Oil has so many uses! It is known for its anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, antidepressant, antiseptic, antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. Here is how to use it:

 

  1. Aching Muscled or Stress: Add a few drops to your bath along with some Epsom salts to help soak away aching muscles and relieve stress.
  2. Muscle or Join Pain: Massage a few drops mixed with a carrier oil on your skinas a relief for muscle or joint pain.
  3. Acne or Wounds: Massage gently on to skin conditions like minor burns, acne and wounds.
  4. Anxiety or Stress: Put a few drops in a vaporizer or a bowl of hot water, and then breathe in the steam to help with anxiety and stress.
  5. Sore Feet: Put a few drops in warm water before soaking your feet.
  6. Sprains or Muscle Injuries: Soak a towel in a bowl of water infused with a few drops of lavender oil and apply to sprains or muscle injuries.
  7. Bug: Put a few drops in a spray bottle with water and spray for an effective bug repellent. Also, apply to bug bites and the anti-inflammatory properties of lavender oil will help reduce the irritation and pain.
  8. Sleep Trouble: Massage a few drops mixed with a carrier oil on your temples and bottoms of you or children’s feet to help bring on sleep.
  9. Minor Burns: For minor burns immerse the burn in running cold water for 5 minutes and then swipe on a little lavender oil for immediate relief.
  10. Sunburn: Add 8 drops of lavender oil and 4 drops of peppermint oil to a teaspoon of jojoba oil. Then pour into a cool-to-lukewarm bath and soak for 10 minutes.
